PhDiaFusion2025
About this edition
The 6th edition of the School will cover innovative plasma diagnostic solutions towards a fusion reactor, with a focus on the synergy between public and private initiatives. The scientific topics include:
Indeed, plasma diagnostic requirements for reactor prototypes may largely differ from the ones of nowadays research-oriented devices, such as medium-size tokamaks. Key plasma parameters will have to be inferred in real time to ensure stable and efficient operation of the tokamak, using a limited set of critical diagnostic systems of which the optimal composition and design remains yet to be determined. In this context, public and private initiatives can bring different, but complementary ideas that will help the community to find original solutions and achieve this goal.
Therefore, the school can be an excellent platform for meeting and exchanging views between people implementing the thermonuclear fusion program in private institutions and young students working on these issues in scientific institutes.
6th Summer School of Plasma Diagnostics
Towards a fusion reactor: synergy between public and private initiatives
9 - 13 June 2025, Niepołomice Royal Castle, Poland
PhDiaFusion is a biennial summer school on plasma diagnostics organized jointly by the Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences (IFJ PAN) and the Institute of Magnetic Fusion Research (IRFM) of the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA). The School is addressed to bachelor, master, PhD students and their tutors, as well as young researchers. The School will be held in the spirit of "the master and apprentice" approach:
